Teeth In A Day
Teeth In A Day is a revolutionary concept providing patients with fully functioning teeth on dental implants in a single procedure that takes about 2-3 hours per arch (~1 hour for surgery, ~1 hour for restoration). Unlike traditional dentures, the huge benefit of this procedure is that the teeth stay in your mouth (unless removed by your dentist) and function and look like natural teeth.
This technology was developed by Nobel Biocare over 20 years ago and utilizes collaboration between both the restorative doctor and the oral surgeon.
This procedure is an option when patients are missing an entire jaw arch (upper or lower) of teeth or if an entire arch of teeth is deemed non-restorable (cannot be saved) by your dentist.
The process begins when a 3D CT scan is taken of the patient’s jaw bone. This CT scan allows for the generation of a three-dimensional model of the jaw bone that can then be used with virtual reality software to plan the implant placement without the presence of the patient. The results are a more accurate implant placement and less chair time for the patient. This CT scan will also determine if any bone grafting is needed for implant placement.
Depending on the case, on the same day all the teeth are removed, ~4-5 implants are placed in the upper or lower jaw (“arch”) by Dr. McKnight, and then your restorative dentist will custom fit and deliver the new teeth on these new implants. The fabrication of a temporary prosthesis (“the teeth”) is completed prior to the surgery. This procedure can also be performed if teeth have been missing for years, if there is adequate bone remaining.
